HomeMy WebLinkAboutAdministrative Order No. 2001-01A Declaring Local DisasterCITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA ADMINISTRATIVE ORDER N0.2001-01 WHEREAS, on June 13, 2001, record precipitation and heavy, wet snow caused severe tree damage that knocked down power lines, disabled traffic control devices, blocked numerous city streets causing loss of access to roads, bridges and other public facilities; and WHEREAS, emergency and disaster response costs could exceed City of Bozeman resources and will continue to accrue; and WHEREAS, flooding is likely to occur in the following days; and WHEREAS, this potential flooding creates an imminent threat of disaster causing immediate peril to life or property that can be averted or minimized through timely action; and WHEREAS, as a precondition to the City acting pursuant to §10-3-405, MCA, authorizing emergency tax levies requires that there be a declaration of emergency or disaster as authorized by §10-3-403, MCA. NOW, THEREFORE, as principal executive officer of the City of Bozeman, I hereby declare a local disaster for the City of Bozeman pursuant to M.C.A. § 10-3-403 and declare that all provisions of the City Emergency Operations Plan are in effect, to include all applicable provisions of the interjurisdiction plan with Gallatin County, until terminated by separate Administrative Order. Pursuant to the emergency and disaster powers invested I do hereby authorize and direct the Disaster and Emergency Service Coordinator or his designee to recruit and establish a list of civil defense volunteers willing to assist in carrying out disaster emergency functions and responsibilities. BE IT FURTHER DECLARED, that the City of Bozeman is hereby authorized, if necessary, to appropriate to the Emergency/Disaster Fund an amount up to the equivalent of two (2) mills on the taxable valuation of the City pursuant to §10-3-405, MCA. Said millage, if approved, will be levied during Fiscal Year 2002 to meet the costs incurred in responding to this disaster. BE IT FURTHER DECLARED, that copies of this Administrative Order be filed with the Clerk of the City Commission and the Montana Disaster and Emergency Services Division in Helena, Montana.
