Mapping Process Animmediateneedtohavearobust,accurate,and extensiveinventoryofBozeman’sstormwatersystemhas becomeapparent.TheCityofBozeman’sGISDepartment hasinitiatedanextensivemappingeffortwiththegoalof acquiringaccuratedatapointsforallstormwaterfeatures throughoutthecity.Thesepointswillthenbeusedbycity crewsforannualmaintenance,planning,infrastructure replacements,modeling,andemergencylocates.ThelatestinGPStechnologywillbeusedtocollectthe followingfeatures,•~1,500Manholes •70+milesofUndergroundPipe •496DischargePoints •~3,600CatchBasins •317+DetentionBasins •CulvertsandOpenDrains Usingengineeringdrawings,recordsdrawing,field observations,andcrewcorrection,thisdatabasewillgrow tobecomeanaccuraterepresentationofthesystemin place.Thefirststepinthisprocesswillbetomapallofthe manholesandgravitymainswithinthecityinpreparation forawidespreadpipeconditionassessmentthissummer (2013).Assummerapproaches,thiseffortwillincrease,so pleasebeawareofcrewsworkingwithinstreetsand intersections.Yoursafetyisournumberoneconcern,pleasemakeour safetyyours!
