Re: Letter of Resignation
Dear All:
As you know, I have accepted the position of County Administrator in Lewis and Clark County and thus
must submit my resignation to the City Commission. As my current term expires in January of 2012, you
will be required to find a replacement to fulfill the duties I am leaving behind.
For those of you with whom I served, I want to thank you for your patience and guidance as we've
wrestled with the issues over the past two years. While we have not always agreed, we generally
deliberated in an agreeable manner. I have learned greatly from our interactions and wish each of you
the best in your future endeavors.
For the newly elected Commissioners, I regret not having the time to develop a collaborative
relationship and learn from your perspectives and experiences. I truly believe that we would have
developed a positive working relationship guided by a shared belief in advocating for the public good.
For the community I was elected to serve, please know that Bozeman and the Gallatin Valley will always
hold a special place in my heart. This has been a wonderful community to serve and I have full
confidence that my colleagues will select an appropriate replacement for this important vacancy.
Please accept this resignation, effective January 11, 2010 at 11:59 pm, and my humble thanks and
gratitude to you and the community you serve.
