Codes. This electrical plan is intended to indicate the requirements of the owner. The details of the electrical system shall be determined by an electrical contractor licensed according to the applicable codes as noted on the plans and by the local building department. Install all electrical wiring, conduit and panel boxes, co-axial cable, and telephone wiring per local codes. All electrical work to be in accordance with N.E.C. Review drawings and provide all work for a complete and operable system, including all incidentals, required by code agencies and local governing bodies. 2.Verify all Dimensions. Prior to start of construction, contractor shall verify and coordinate all dimensions in field. These are conceptual drawings. Report any discrepancies to the architect/engineer. All changes shall be made in writing. 3.Power Panel. Provide recessed electrical power panel as indicated by electrical contractor. Allow 30in. wide by 36” deep working space in front of panel w/minimum 6’6” headroom. Provide illumination. Panel shall not be located in clothes closets or bathrooms. Dedicated space above and below panel(s) to equal the width of the panel from floor to ceiling. Install in accordance with all applicable codes. 4.Electrical Service. Local power company to provide power to building. Service disconnect must be installed at an accessible location either outside of building or inside, near to service into building. Occupants must have access to disconnect that serves their dwelling unit. Min. service for single family dwelling is 100amps. Electrical system is to be grounded and bonded according to 2018 IRC and 2017 NEC.DV 5.Electrical Meter Panel. Contractor to verify service size, location and type with power company for meter panel at building and transformer location. 6.Smoke/Carbon Monoxide Detectors: Provide surface mounted, direct wired smoke detectors located on ceilings or walls in conformance with applicable local and national codes. Smoke detectors are to be installed according to and required at the following locations: Outside of and in immediate vicinity of each sleeping roomOn each story, including basements and habitable attics. PER SECTION R314.6 : SMOKE ALARMS SHALL RECEIVE POWER FROM THE PRIMARY WIRING OF DWELLING, AND SHALL REQUIRE BATTERY BACKUP POWER WHEN THE PRIMARY POWER IS INTERRUPTED.PER SECTION R314.4 : WHERE MORE THAN ONE SMOKE ALARMS ARE REQUIRED THEY SHALL BE INTERCONNECTED IN A MANNER THAT ACTUATION OF ONE ALARM WILL ACTIVATE ALL OF THE ALARMS IN THE DWELLING. PER SECTION R314.3.1: PHOTOELECTRIC SMOKE ALARMS SHALL NOT BE INSTALLED WITHIN 6’ MEASURED HORIZONTALLY FROM PERMANENTLY INSTALLED COOKING APPLIANCE PER SECTION R314.3.1 : IONIZATION SMOKE ALARMS WITH ALARM-SILENCING SHALL NOT BE INSTALLED WITHIN 10 ’ MEASURED HORIZONTALLY FROM PERMANENTLY INSTALLED COOKING APPLIANCEPER SECTION R314.3.1 : IONIZATION SMOKE ALARMS SHALL NOT BE INSTALLED WITHIN 20’ MEASURED HORIZONTALLY FROM PERMANENTLY INSTALLED COOKING APPLIANCE . PER SECTION R314.3 : SMOKE ALARMS SHALL BE NO LESS THAN 36” FROM A DOORWAY OF A BATH ROOM THAT CONTAINS A SHOWER OR TUB 7.Electrical Layout. All electrical service shall comply with national electrical code, standard building code, N.F.P.A. and all other applicable state and local codes. Locations are suggested only. Consult your engineers and subcontractors for exact locations, specifications, sizes and code compliance. 8.Engineering. This drawing represents power and communication receptacle, ceiling fixture locations and switching diagrams as suggestions only, and shall not be utilized as an engineering document. 9.Trim Color & Style. Electrical contractor must confirm cover plate, switch and outlet color and style with the architect/owner prior to installation. 10.Switches and Receptacles. When two (2) or more switches or receptacles are located together, gang with one common faceplate. If they cannot be ganged, install with a minimum distance between units. 11.Receptacles. Any point along a wall in a habitable room must be within 6ft of a receptacle outlet. Install all receptacles at 18” on center (OC) above finished floor.Tamper Resistant receptacles for all locations per NEC 210.52 & NEC 550.13, PER ARTICLE 406.12 2017 NEC.GFCI Protection: (GFCI outlets must be readily accessible and not to be installed behind appliances) Outlets of 125volts, 15/20amps require GFCI protection at the following locations: (per NEC 210.8) BathroomsGarages and accessory buildingsOutdoorsCrawlspacesUnfinished basementsKitchen outlets serving counter topsAny location within 6ft of a sink.AFCI Protection: AFCI arc-fault circuit breakers are required for branch circuits supplying 120volt, 15/20amp outlets, lighting, or smoke alarms installed in the following locations: (per NEC 210.8(A)) BedroomsFamily RoomsDining RoomsParlorsLibrariesDensClosetsHallwaysSunroomsRecreation RoomsKitchen counters: any point along a kitchen counter wall must be within 2ft of an outlet. Kitchen counter outlets are to be max. 20in. above counter.Bathrooms: a receptacle outlet is required within 36in of each lavatory. Outlets are prohibited within or directly above bathtub or shower spaces.Outdoors: receptacle outlets no more than 6ft 6in above grade or walking surfaces are required at the front of dwelling unit, back of dwelling unit, and at any balcony, deck, or porch accessible from inside the dwelling unit.Laundry areas: min. one outlet is required for laundry appliances.Basements and Garages: unfinished portions of basements require one outlet. Attached/detached garages require min. one outlet.Hallways: min. one outlet in hallways 10ft or longer.Foyers: Foyers greater than 60sqft require one outlet for each wall space 3ft or greater in width.HVAC Equipment: one outlet is required within 25ft of HVAC equipment.Wet Locations: require weatherproof enclosures 12.Switches. Install switches 48” on center (OC) Above finished floor, unless otherwise noted. Locate light switch cover plates 6 ” from frame of door or corner of wall. 13.Appliances. Provide and install necessary electrical requirements for appliances. Check manufacturers recommendations. 14.Telephone/Data. Install CAT 5 cable and receptacles per location as specified on the plans. 15.Sound System. If specified on the plans, Wire for sound system, as outlined by owner/architect . Coordinate with sound system company. See plan for locations. 16.Alarm System. If specified on the plans, Install alarm system, as outlined by owner/architect. Coordinate with alarm system company. See plan for locations. 17. Lighting. 100% of permanent fixtures have high efficacy lamps. Permanent interior lighting shall be controlled with either a dimmer, occupancy sensor or other control built into the fixture. Exterior lighting >= 30 watts shall have the following controls: manual on/off switch with automatic shut-off, automatic shut-off in daylight hours, and controls that override automatic shutoff that returns to automatic control within 24 hours.
