Stahly Engineering 851 Bridger Drive, Suite #1 Bozeman, MT 59715 April 29, 2020 Re: Trinity Church Development This letter summarizes our trip generation analysis for the Trinity Church Development located in the northwest corner of the Durston Road and Ferguson Avenue intersection in Bozeman, Montana. The Trinity Church development would be constructed in two phases. Phase 1 would be a 10,100 square foot building that would house church offices and a Ministry Center/Youth Group room. This will be used for smaller worship services (possibly funerals, weddings, baptisms, etc.) as well as their weekly youth group, Bible study, women/men’s groups. The office wing will accommodate 9 workspaces. Phase 2 is planned to add approximately 30,500 SF. With the addition of Phase 2, the entire building would be approximately 40,600 SF. The Sanctuary space is designed to accommodate 650 people per service. The ITE Trip Generation Report, 10th Edition was used to predict the relative number of trips that would be generated by this development. Land Use Code 560 “Church” (see attachment) was determined to be the most similar land use for this development. There are several time periods associated with trip generation rates for Land Use Code 560. The attached table provides trip generation summaries for seven different time periods that would be applicable to the Trinity Church Development. Average Weekday Trips (AWT) quantifies additional trips on the adjacent street system over a 24-hour period. Peak AM and PM hour trips are site trips that would occur when traffic of the adjacent street system peaks, while peak AM and PM generator trips are associated with site trips that are not necessarily coincident with peak periods on the adjacent street system. The highest trip generation potential for this development would be on Sundays, when 24-hour and peak hour traffic on the surrounding street system is at its lowest level. The attached trip generation table indicates that Phases 1 and 2 of site development would generate relatively minor traffic volumes on the adjacent street system during weekday time periods, while Sundays would have substantially more traffic, especially during peak generator hours. The peak hours on Sunday would generate 101 trips for Phase 1 development and when Phase 2 is completed there would be 406 trips. It should be noted that the Sunday peak hour should be divided by approximately two to reflect the fact that there would actually be two peaks corresponding to two church service times, one starting and 8:30 AM and the other at 10:30 AM. However, Sunday trip generation can be significantly different. Sunday trips are five times the AWT volumes and peak hour traffic periods have high traffic demands. After the services are complete, site egress volumes typical occur over a 15 to 20-minute period. Fortunately, adjacent street traffic is significantly less during the peak Sunday hours without commuter and school traffic competing for system capacity.
