The Home-2 Hotel has site plan approval on Lot 2A1 and a sewer design report was submitted to the City of Bozeman with that application (COB Application #19394). This design report provides the criteria used as a basis of design for the sewer line proposed to service the proposed future Hotel on Lot 2A2. This report is submitted in conjunction with the completed plans and specifications and is organized following the outline recommended in DEQ-2, Chapter 10, Section 11.1, Engineering Reports. The proposed Hotel facility is located off Baxter Lane on proposed Lot 2A2 of the Saccoccia Subsequent Minor Subdivision 407C. This project is located within the City of Bozeman, Montana. See the vicinity map for location details. 1 PROBLEM DEFINED This project involves the installation of a sewer service line that will connect to the existing 8- inch sewer main installed with the Rocky Mountain Credit Union site plan (see the attached C302 Rocky Mountain Credit Union in Appendix C). This main them ties into the existing 12- inch main in Baxter Lane. Sewer facilities included in this project will be designed in accordance with Montana Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) regulations. Adequate capacity will be provided to allow for growth in areas adjacent to the actual project areas. Flow and population data for the project will be consistent with the City’s approved Facilities Plan, where applicable. 2 DESIGN CONDITIONS The proposed future Hotel on Lot 2A2 will be located on property zoned B-2 (Community Business District) per the City of Bozeman’s zoning map. The capacity requirement for the sewer main extension is calculated as follows: 2 Proposed Design Flows: The proposed future Hotel on Lot 2A2 will have approximately 98 rooms. A guest occupancy rate of 1.5 guests per room is assumed which results in 147 guests when the hotel is 100% booked. Based on the Montana Department of Environmental Quality’s Circular DEQ-4, Table 3.1-1 (Appendix A) each guest typically generates 48gpd, and each employee will generate 10gpd. The hotel also has a breakfast bar which generates 3gpd per meal. Assumptions: • Proposed Hotel has 98 rooms • Proposed Hotel guest occupancy rate of 1.5 guests per room = 147 guests • Proposed Hotel will have approximately 10 employees • Sewer Flow Rate (guest) = 48gpd / guest (MDEQ Circular DEQ-4, Table 3.1-1) • Sewer Flow Rate (employee) = 10gpd / employee (MDEQ Circular DEQ-4, Table 3.1-1) • Sewer Flow Rate (breakfast) = 3gpd/meal* (MDEQ Circular DEQ-4, Table 3.1-1) o *assume that every guest has a meal Guest Wastewater Flow Rate = (48gpd)(147 guests) = 7056gpd Employee Wastewater Flow Rate = (10gpd)(10 employees) = 100gpd Breakfast Wastewater Flow Rate = (3gpd)(147 guests) = 441gpd Total Wastewater Flow Rate = 7,597gpd or 5.3gpm Population = (147 guest) + (10 employees) = 157 people Peaking Factor (PF) = (18+(population/1000)^.5)/(4+(population/1000)^.5) Peaking Factor = 4.18 Peak Flow = 7,597gpd (avg daily flow) x 4.18= 31,755gpd Peak Flow = 31,755gpd = 22.1gpm Infiltration at Lot 1 = 150 gpd per Acre = 150gpd x 2.04 (Lot 2A2) acres = 306gpd Infiltration = 306gpd = 0.21gpm Total Lot 1 peak flow = 22.1gpm + 0.21gpm = 22.3gpm 3 Total Peak Flow for 8” Sewer Main = (PF from Rocky Mtn Credit Union)+(PF Lot 2A2) Peak Flow from RMCU Design Report – 2016 = 6.97gpm Total Peak Flow = (6.97gpm) + (22.3gpm) = 29.27gpm Please refer to the table below for comparisons between maximum flows and proposed flows and see that that proposed piping is adequate. LOT PEAK FLOW (gpm) PROPOSED CONVEYANCE *MAXIMUM FLOW FOR 8” MAIN (gpm) RMCU & Lot 2A2 29.27 Existing 8-inch sewer main 346 *8-inch pipe at minimum grade (0.4%) with a roughness coefficient (n) value of 0.013 3 IMPACT ON EXISTING WASTEWATER FACILITIES The existing sewer mains in the vicinity of this project can handle the increase in flows based on information in the 2015 City of Bozeman Wastewater Collection Facilities Plan Update. The 2015 Plan did not identify this main as requiring upsizing with full buildout of its service area. 4 PROJECT DESCRIPTION This project involves the installation of a sewer service line that will connect to the existing 8- inch sewer main installed with the Rocky Mountain Credit Union site plan (see the attached C302 Rocky Mountain Credit Union in Appendix C). This main them ties into the existing 12- inch main in Baxter Lane. 5 DESIGN CRITERIA Design criteria including average and peak flows as well as sewer depth information were provided in previous sections. The proposed sewer service conforms to the State’s minimum vertical and horizontal separation criteria for sewer services. The proposed conventional gravity sewer collection system is to be constructed to City of Bozeman and the 6th Edition of Montana Public Works (MPW) standard specifications. The sewer service shall be 8-inch diameter SDR 35 Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) pipe. 4 6 SITE INFORMATION The project site has been zoned B-2 by the City of Bozeman. The existing site is bound by Lowe’s Home Improvement to the South, Baxter Lane to the North, Simmental way to the West and Sacco Drive to the East. The site has existing grades of less than 4% and has Saypo silt loam and Enbar loam soil deposits (see Appendix B - USDA Soil Survey information attached). The site is not located in a floodway or floodplain. 7 ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACTS There are no expected environmental impacts from this sewer main extension, as the City of Bozeman Wastewater Treatment Plant has adequate capacity for this extension. 8 OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE Sewer mains will be owned, operated, and maintained by the City of Bozeman.
