STORM DRAINAGE FACILITY MAINTENANCE PLAN
FOR
NORTHWESTERN ENERGY EAST LOT
BOZEMAN, MT
OVERVIEW NARRATIVE
The purpose of this maintenance plan is to outline the necessary details related to ownership,
responsibility and cleaning schedule for the storm drainage facilities for Northwestern Energy East
Lot. This plan has been completed in accordance with The City of Bozeman Design Standards and
Specifications Policy, dated March 2004. The site stormwater improvements have been designed with
the intent to meet the current City of Bozeman drainage regulations for the entire site to the extent
feasible.
Specific site information and criteria are described below:
I. Ownership of Facilities
Northwestern Energy
Northwestern Energy will own all stormwater facilities which includes a detention facility,
outlet structure, and piping within the site boundary.
II. Inspection Thresholds for Cleaning
Detention Facility
Remove trash, debris, yard waste, and accumulated sediment if sediment exceeds 2” beyond
design depth.
Outlet Structure/Piping
Outlet structure is not damaged, clogged, or defective. If sediment in sump exceeds 5 inches
or grate is more than 25% clogged with debris.

III. Cleaning
Detention Facility/Outlet Structure/Piping
· Remove vegetation and debris from trash racks, pond inlets, and overflow structures.
· Check for slumping or sloughing of pond slopes.
· Trim vegetation for aesthetics and to prevent the establishment of woody vegetation
that may drop leaf litter, fruits, and other vegetative material that may clog facility.
· Jet outlet pipe to keep free of clogging.
· Remove sediment from pond and structure.
IV. Schedule
Detention Facility
Inspection: Every 6 months and after strong storm events
Clean: Every 5 years or as needed based on inspection.
Outlet Structure
Inspection: Every 6 months and after strong storms
Clean: Every 5 years or as needed based on inspection.
Piping
Inspection: Every 6 months and after storm events
Clean: Every 5 years or as needed based on inspection.
V. Responsible Party
Northwestern Energy
Northwestern Energy will be responsible for the inspection and maintenance of all
stormwater facilities located within the project limits
I agree to the above operation, maintenance and replacement schedule detailed above.
