I am writing to voice opposition to the Fowler Lane extension project. As a long-time Sweetgrass avenue
resident (my son built our Sweetgrass Ave house in 1994), I appreciate the quiet nature of our
neighborhood, the walking trail that borders the proposed extension, and the natural corridor formed by
the drainage/creek and old-growth trees. The proposed project would increase noise and pollution in the
area. This area also includes many young families and first-time homebuyers. The increase in traffic and
congestion will decrease safety for these residents and their children. Had the city had foresight, it could
have acquired a wide right-of-way. As proposed, the extension will be built directly adjacent to the front
and rear yards of area residents. Would residents of South Bozeman want Goldenstein, South 3rd, or
Sourdough to become five-lane thoroughfares? I am doubtful! I hope the City of Bozeman has the same
level of respect for west-side residents and shelves this proposed extension.
