I fully support the extension of Fowler Ave from Babcock to Oak. While a small group of vocal individuals
have made it known they would like to keep the trail that runs between Durston and Babcock in lieu of
having Fowler punch through, I feel it is imperative that Fowler connect all the way to Oak. Currently north
bound Fowler traffic is using Meagher Ave as the through street. Meagher was not built to handle this
amount of traffic and does not have a single controlled intersection between Babcock and Durston. I have
seen the school bus t-boned twice on its morning pick up route on Meagher. Also this traffic is causing a lot
of congestion in the morning in front of Hyalite Elementary School. Making it difficult for students to cross
Babcock even with a crossing guard and a crossing light. It is even more difficult for parents to drop off their
kids in the morning at Hyalite.
While I appreciate the desire for green space in the neighborhood, we currently have a walking path from
the Valley Unit Park on Cascade Ave all the way to the park at Oak Street.
With the future development that is planned for the open space by Rosaures, we need to focus on moving
traffic in the safest manner possible. Forcing cars onto uncontrolled neighborhood streets is not the
answer.
