Chairperson Kelly Pohl and Members of City Transportation Board,
Bozeman is a growing community. All communities, particularly
growing ones, need to have well conceived transportation plans
designed to accommodate vehicles, transit vehicles, motor pedalists,
foot pedals, , pedestrians, and, joggers.
For decades, Bozeman has had a series of transportation plans
developed by competent consultants with substantial input and review
by the general public, various advocacy groups, the City Commission,
and, when appropriate, the County Commission. We need to move ahead
with all those duly developed plans That includes the construction
of that segment of Fowler, both the roadway, and associated ped/bike
improvements.
Failure to build a segment may well please some citizens buy you, I,
and the majority of the citizens would pay the "price". Traffic
that otherwise would be accommodated on Fowler would be diverted to
nearby residential streets. Vehicle miles traveled would
unnecessarily increase thus increasing fossil fuel consumption and
undesirable fuel emissions.
