I'd like to speak opposed to the Fowler extension. There are several concerns I
have about this but by far the largest is that it has not been shown that this is
needed at all and just about four blocks to the west is Ferguson, which is
adequate for all the traffic in the area as far as I can see. It is a colossal waste
of taxpayer dollars to duplicate these arterials, and there are so many more
pressing needs our community has. The only reason I have heard for this huge
project is: it has been in the plan for a long time..... dumb reason.
Secondly, Bozeman has a shocking lack of off-street trails for our children and
pedestrians, bikers and others. In such an enlightened, progressive community
it is sad that this has not been a priority, to keep our quality of life high and our
kids safe. I very much hope some day Bozeman leaders will se the value of this,
but for now, I am willing to fight for one of the few developed trails that gets a
lot of use that we do have, in fact it would be my hope the trail from Babcock
to Durstin, can be continued all the way through. expecting small children to
ride their bikes on big roads like Durstin and Babcock is bad enough, we dont
need to take away the small respite they have from racing traffic!!
Please change your plans city, and use the money for a new swim center or
better off street trails!
