OBTAIN ALL PERMITS AND APPROVALS REQUIRED FOR THE EXECUTION OF THE WORK. F. PROVIDE ONE SET OF "AS-BUILT" PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS CORRECTED UP-TO- DATE AS JOB PROGRESSES. PROVIDE OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE MANUALS FOR ALL EQUIPMENT PROVIDED FOR THIS PROJECT. FLUSHING AND CLEANING A. CLEAN AND FLUSH ALL PIPING SYSTEMS PRIOR TO PLACING IN SERVICE. PROVIDE TEMPORARY CONNECTIONS, VALVES, ETC., REQUIRED FOR THIS PURPOSE. B. AFTER FLUSHING, STERILIZE THE DOMESTIC WATER SYSTEM IN ACCORDANCE WITH AWWA STANDARD C651-86, AFTER MINIMUM CONTACT PERIOD, FLUSH THE SYSTEM WITH CLEAN WATER UNTIL THE RESIDUAL CHLORINE IS NO GREATER THAN THE CITY WATER. PROVIDE A TEST ANALYSIS BY THE STATE HEALTH DEPARTMENT OF A RANDOM WATER SAMPLE, IF SAMPLE IS NOT ACCEPTABLE, RE-CLEAN AND RE- TEST. SHOP DRAWINGS A. SUBMIT ONE HARD COPY SET OF SHOP DRAWINGS AND ONE ELECTRONIC SET OF SHOP DRAWINGS OF ALL EQUIPMENT TO BE USED ON THIS PROJECT TO GC. OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE MANUALS A. UPON PROJECT COMPLETION PREPARE AND SUBMIT TWO COMPLETE HARD COPY SETS AND ONE COMPLETE ELECTRONIC SET OF OPERATION MANUALS. OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE MANUALS SHALL CONTAIN ALL INFORMATION NECESSARY TO MAINTAIN, SERVICE, REPAIR, OR REPLACE ALL EQUIPMENT USED ON THIS PROJECT. INCLUDE ALL NECESSARY INFORMATION TO SET AND PROGAM THERMOSTATS OR OTHER USER PROGRAMMABLE DEVICES. HARD COPIES SHALL BE BOUND IN 3 RING BINDERS OF SUFFICIENT SIZE TO CONTAIN ALL INFORMATON. ON INSIDE COVER, PROVIDE PROJECT INFORMATION, GENERAL CONTRACTOR NAME AND CONTACT PHONE NUMBER AND E-MAIL, AND SUBCONTRACTOR NAME AND CONTACT PHONE NUMBER AND CONTACT INFORMATION. SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE A. LOCATE AND INSTALL ALL EQUIPMENT TO FACILITATE MAINTENANCE, SERVICE, REPAIR, AND REPLACEMENT OF EQUIPMENT OR COMPONENTS. EXTEND GREASE FITTINGS FOR EASE OF MAINTENANCE. ENSURE FILTER ACCESSIBILITY AND REPLACEMENT CLEARANCES ARE ADEQUATE. ENSURE COIL REPLACEMENT CLEARANCES ARE ADEQUATE. EQUIPMENT AND PIPE IDENTIFICATION A. PROVIDE EQUIPMENT IDENTIFICATION TAGS WITH IDENTIFICATION AS SHOWN ON EQUIPMENT SCHEDULES. TAGS SHALL BE PERMENANTLY AFFIXED ENGRAVED PLASTIC OR PHENOLIC WITH 1" LETTERING. B. PROVIDE PIPING IDENTIFICATION LABELS SHOWING SERVICE AS INDICATED ON PLANS AND FLOW DIRECTIONS. LOCATE LABELS AT 5 FT INTERVALS IN MECHANICAL ROOMS AND 10 FT INTERVALS ELSEWHERE. VIBRATION ISOLATION A. ALL MOTOR DRIVEN EQUIPMENT SHALL BE SUPPLIED WITH VIBRATION ISOLATION HANGERS OR SUPPORTS. ALL DUCTWORK CONNECTIONS TO MOTOR DRIVEN EQUIPMENT SHALL HAVE FLEXIBLE CONNECTIONS. ALL PIPING CONNECTING TO BASE MOUNTED PIPES SHALL HAVE STAINLESS STEEL FLEXIBLE CONNECTORS. DUCT WORK A. DUCTWORK AND FITTINGS 1. ALL DUCTWORK SHALL BE G-90 GALVANIZED STEEL WITH LOCKING TYPE SEAMS. 2. CONSTRUCT ALL HVAC DUCTWORK PER SMACNA HVAC DUCT CONSTRUCTION STANDARDS-METAL AND FLEXIBLE, THIRD EDITION. 3. INSTALL DUCTWORK AS SHOWN ON DRAWINGS TIGHT TO STRUCTURE AND PARALLEL AND PERPENDICULAR TO BUILDING STRUCTURE EXCEPT AS NOTED. CONSTRUCT AND INSTALL DUCT HANGERS PER SMACNA STANDARDS. COORDINATE WITH OTHER TRADES. 4. SEAL ALL HVAC DUCTWORK TO CLASS C SEALING STANDARDS (TRANSVERSE JOINTS). 5. DUCT SIZES SHOWN ON DRAWING ARE INSIDE CLEAR FINISHED DIMENSIONS. 6. PROVIDE FLEXIBLE CONNECTION AT ALL FANS AND AIR HANDLING UNITS. FLEXIBLE CONNECTON ARE NOT REQIRED AT EQUIPMENT WITH INTERNAL VIBRATION ISOLATION. 7. FLEXIBLE DUCT SHALL BE LIMITED TO A MAXIMUM LENGTH OF 6 FEET. NO FLEX DUCT IS ALLOWED IN APARTMENT CEILING CAVITIES. 8. INSULATE ALL INTERIOR SUPPLY DUCTWORK WITH 1-1/2" JACKETED BLANKET INSULATION WITH TAPED SEAMS. INSULATE ALL EXTERIOR DUCTWORK WITH 2" RIGID INSULATION WITH SHEET METAL OR PVC COVERING. INSULATION MATERIAL SHALL COMPLY WITH NFPA FLAME SPREAD AND SMOKE DEVELOPMENT STANDARDS. 9. DUCT ACCESS AND INSPECTION DOORS SHALL BE DOUBLE WALL INSULATED WITH HINGE AND CAM LOCK CLOSURES. PROVIDE ACCESS DOOR AT EACH FIRE DAMPER AND AT OTHER EQUIPMENT INSIDE DUCTS REQUIRING ACCESS. 10. FIRE DAMPERS SHALL BE INSTALLED IN ACCORDANCE WITH DRAWING DETAILS AND MANUFACTURER'S INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS. 11. RECTANGULAR DUCT SHALL HAVE TURNING VANES ON ALL SQUARE ELBOWS. 12. RECTANGULAR DUCT SHALL HAVE CENTERLINE DUCT RADIUS EQUAL TO DUCT WIDTH ON ALL RADIUS ELBOWS. 13. ROUND DUCT SHALL HAVE CENTERLINE DUCT RADIUS EQUAL TO DUCT DIAMETER. SQUARE ELBOWS ARE NOT PERMITED ON ROUND DUCT. 14. FIRE DAMPERS- 1-1/2 HR FIRE RATING WITH SLEEVE WHERE CONSTRUCTION FIRE RATING REQUIRES TO MEET NFPA 90A REQUIREMENTS. 15. DUCT SEALANT- NON-HARDENING, WATER RESISTANT, NON COMBUSTIBLE, LIQUID OR MASTIC. ALL SEALANTS SHALL HAVE APPROVED FIRE RATING FOR PLENUM APPLICATION AS REQUIRED BY CODE AUTHORITY. 16. THE BALANCING OF THE SYSTEM SHALL BE PART OF THIS CONTRACT, INCLUDE IN BID THE COST OF BALANCING AND ADJUSTING. THE AIR QUANTITIES LISTED AND A WRTTEN REPORT SHALL BE SUBMITTED TO THE ENGINEER. EQUIPMENT A. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE ALL EQUIPMENT, ACCESSORIES, AND INCIDENTALS NECESSARY WHETHER SPECIFICALLY STATED OR NOT TO MAKE THE REQUIRED MECHANICAL SYSTEMS COMPLETE AND OPERATIONAL. B. THE EQUIPMENT SCHEDULES PROVIDE MANUFACTURER AND MODEL NUMBER. OTHER EQUIPMENT MAY BE USED IF EQUAL AND APPROVED BY ENGINEER WITH A WRITTEN PRIOR APPROVAL. PLUMBING FIXTURES A. PROVIDE PLUMBING FIXTURES AS INDICATED ON THE PLUMBING FIXTURE SCHEDULE. PROVIDE TRAPS, STOPS, ESCUTCHEONS, SEALANTS, GASKETS, CAULKING, ETC. FOR COMPLETE INSTALLATION. PIPE AND DUCTWORK PENETRATIONS A. WHERE HORIZONTAL DUCTS AND PIPE PASS THROUGH WALLS, AND VERTICAL DUCTS AND PIPES PASS THROUGH FLOORING OR ROOFS SEAL OFF VOID BETWEEN OPENING AND DUCT, OR PIPE AND SLEEVE. ALL PENETRATIONS OF EXTERIOR WALL BELOW GRADE SHALL BE SEALED WATERTIGHT. ALL PENETRATIONS FOR EXTERIOR WALLS ABOVE GRADE SHALL BE SEALED WEATHER TIGHT. B. WHEREVER ANY PIPE, CONDUIT, STEEL MEMBER, BRACKET, EQUIPMENT OR OTHER MATERIAL PENETRATES OR PASSES THROUGH FIRE RESISTANT WALL, CEILING OR FLOOR, COMPLETELY SEAL VOIDS IN CONSTRUCTION WITH NON-HARDENING CAULK OR OTHER FIRE RESISTANT MATERIAL AS APPROVED BY ALL AUTHORITIES HAVING JURISDICTION. EMBED SEALING MATERIAL FULL THICKNESS OF MATERIAL BEING PENETRATED. SEALANT USED AT PENETRATIONS OF ITEMS WHICH CAN BE CONSUMED IN A FIRE SHALL BE INTUMESCENT AND SHALL BE INSTALLED SO AS TO FILL THE VOID LEFT IF PENETRANT IS CONSUMED. SEALANTS TO BE INSTALLED IN ACCORDANCE WITH MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND SHALL HAVE BEEN TESTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH ASTM E-814. MOTORS AND STARTERS A. MOTORS SHALL INCLUDED THERMAL OVERLOAD PROTECTION. B. PROVIDE STARTERS OF CURRENT AND CAPACITY RATINGS TO SERVE THE MOTOR INTENDED. C. UNLESS OTHERWISE INDICATED, ALL DISCONNECTS SHALL BE PROVIDED BY ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR. D. DISCONNECTS SHALL COMPLY WITH CURRENT ELECTRICAL CODES. INSULATION A. ALL INSULATION AND INSULATING MATERIALS SHALL BE TESTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH ASTM 84 FOR A FLAME SPREAD RATING OF 25 OR LESS AND A SMOKE DEVELOPMENT RATING OF 50 OR LESS.
