SUBJECT: Addendum to the Geotechnical Investigation Report
Northwest Crossing Subdivision
Cottonwood Road &West Oak Street
Bozeman, Montana
Dear Ms. Dornberger:
This letter presents an addendum letter to the geotechnical investigation for the Northwest
Crossing Subdivision located on Cottonwood Road &West Oak Street in Bozeman, Montana. A
new two story wood framed building is proposed in the southeast quadrant of the property.
The building will have conventional stem wall foundations with loads provided of 4 kips per lineal
foot for exterior continuous footings and interior column loads of 100 kips for long term loading
conditions. The exterior and interior footings should be excavated down to the native gravel with
sand layer. If this layer is not at footing elevation they should be over excavated down to the
gravel layer and backfilled with structural fill as recommended in the report. Utilizing the structural
loads provided and a bearing capacity of 4,000 psf, we have estimated a settlement of less than
% inch. The remainder of the recommendations in the original report should be followed.
Our recommendations contained in this report are based on exploratory test pits, laboratory
testing, engineering analysis and preparation of this report. The recommendations required to
design foundations, parking lot section design and construction, and utility installation are
contained in the attached report. These conclusions and recommendations, along with
restrictions and limitations on these conclusions, are discussed in the attached report.
