All exterior and interior walls parallel to a Braced Wall Line shall be offset not more than 4 feet and Braced Wall Panels shall be full-height sections with no vertical or horizontal offsets (R602.10.2). BWP shall begin within 10 feet from each end of a braced wall line. Distance between Braced Wall Panels in a Braced Wall Line shall be no greater than 20 feet. (R602.10.2.2). Per R602.10.2.3 a BWL with a length of 16' or less shall have a minimum of two braced wall panels of any length or one BWP equal to or greater than 48”. BWL greater than 16' shall have a minimum of two BWP. The end of a BWL shall be the intersection with a perpendicular BWL (R602.10.1.1). For additional spacing information see Tables R602.10.3 CONTINUOUS SHEATHING METHOD (R602.10.4.2) require structural panel sheathing to be used on ALL sheathable surfaces ON ONE SIDE of a Braced Wall Line, including ares above and below openings and gable end walls (R602.10.7). See Figure R602.10.7 for the five acceptable End Conditions. There are 16 Bracing Methods in addition to Continuous Sheathing allowed (R602.10.4); the most common ones are listed below.
