There was some confusion regarding the detail that we proposed and after discussion he concluded that the planters will not pose a maintenance conflict for City Forestry. He let me know that he has communicated that to Danielle. Can you both confirm that we can proceed with resubmittal of these projects with the current tree planter design? I have included the relevant detail and DRC comments for reference. Our rationale for this planter design includes the following points: · The planters provide a larger volume of soil for the trees, · provide a “softer” transitional landscape between the more urban “main street” style storefront sidewalk and the historic residential neighborhoods that surround the project, · reduce impervious surfaces, · create opportunities for landscaping and seasonal color for these mixed-use projects which are primarily residential, · have snow storage and stormwater benefits. 2 Excerpt from One 11-2.0 Site Plan, Application 20456 DRC Memo dated March 17, 2021 3 Excerpt from North Central Block 4 CONR DRC Memo Thanks, Hampton Uzzelle 37 East Main, Suite 10 Bozeman, MT 59715 (Cell) 520-975-6713 (Office)406-587-4873 www.design5la.com From: Alex Nordquest <ANordquest@BOZEMAN.NET> Sent: Thursday, April 1, 2021 10:57 AM To: Hampton Uzzelle <hampton@design5la.com> Subject: RE: North Central Hi Hampton, I told Danielle I had no concerns with the planters – they’re accessible for Forestry maintenance. I was looking at a steel planter by mistake. HI Alex, I am following up on the tree planter concept for the streetscapes in the North Central master plan and the associated projects, One 11 2.0 and North Central Block 4. Have you had a chance to connect with Danielle and Susanna about those planters? Let me know if you would like to all get on a call to discuss.
