RESOLUTION 5248
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN,
MONTANA, ADOPTING THE 2020 BOZEMAN CLIMATE PLAN
WHEREAS, the City of Bozeman Strategic Plan calls for climate action to reduce
community and municipal greenhouse gas emissions, increase the supply of clean and renewable
energy and foster related businesses, and
WHEREAS, on November 27, 2017, the City Commission adopted Resolution 4866
upholding the Paris Climate Agreement, and
WHEREAS, on June 24, 2019, the City contracted with the Brendle Group to assist with
development of the 2020 Bozeman Climate Plan, and
WHEREAS, on September 9, 2019 the City Commission adopted Resolution 5077
authorizing the City Manager to create the Bozeman Climate Team to serve in an advisory capacity
and help build community consensus around the identified goals and actions, and
WHEREAS, on October 22, 2019 Mayor Cynthia L. Andrus proclaimed that Bozeman
shall be a leader in addressing climate change by developing a climate action plan that identifies
bold targets for carbon reduction and climate change mitigation, and
WHEREAS, on December 19, 2019, the City Commission adopted Resolution 5118
establishing a position statement, guiding principles, vision themes, and provisional goals which
serve as a framework for the 2020 Bozeman Climate Plan, and
WHEREAS, extensive outreach and communication with the community was conducted
to solicit input and comment, and
WHEREAS, on the City Commission conducted public hearings on the draft document on
September 22, 2020 and November 17, 2020 and after hearing from the public and considering
public comments directed revisions to the draft document.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Commission of the City of
Bozeman, Montana, to wit:
Section 1
The City Commission approves Resolution 5248 adopting the 2020 Bozeman Climate
Plan as referenced in Attachment A.
Section 2
The City Commission requests that the City Manager to prepare an implementation plan
to undertake the implementation of the recommendations and policies of the 2020 Bozeman
Climate Plan. The City Manager shall provide recommendations for timing of work, budget, and
staff time commitments to complete the implementation plan.
PASSED, ADOPTED, AND APPROVED by the City Commission of the City of
Bozeman, Montana, at a regular session thereof held on the 22nd day of December, 2020.
