This detached two-and-one-half story single-family residence has a rectangular plan with a hipped roof front porch with gable overdoor defining the entry and supported by three tuscan wood columns. There is an outside stairway on one side. The two-bay facade is asymmetrical and consists of an off-center front entrance with fixed, 1/1 double-hung and casement windows, with leaded glass windows on the north side, and flat-arches above the windows and sandstone or limestone sills. The frame construction is finished in brick veneer and rests on what is probably a rubble foundation. The hipped-gable combination roof is covered with grey-red asphalt shingles and features hipped and gabled dormers and overhanging eaves I that are returning. There is a central brick chimney. The dining room and porch have been added to the south east corner in 1982, as well as a wood deck off the porch. Outbuildings include a twocar garage with a flat roof. Matt Cohen 204 S. Third Revision 1985 Built about two years after Frank L. Benepe remodeled his house across the street, 201 S. Third Ave. , to the Queen Anne style, this house is one of the most notable in the city for its large size. It was built for Squire C. Kenyon, president of the Kenyon-Noble Lumber Co. , a company which is still in operation. Kenyon's song Carlisle S. Kenyon, was listed as a boarder here in 1904, and bookkeeper for his father's company. He later built a modest house on W. Main St. (see Cooper Park Historic District) . By 1927, the Cambda Phi Fraternity was located here. Kenyon's eventual partner, Thomas E. Noble, lived nearby in 311 S. 3rd Ave. The Avant Courier in 1900 carried the following avid item about this house: "S.C. Kenyon' s fine new house is being rushed along toward completion. A force of 18 carpenters have been at work. . . .and of course they make it go. Mr . Kenyon will have one of the model homes of the city, when it is finished.
