This detached two-story single-family upright-and-wing structure in the porch-and-
gable fronted farmhouse style has an .ell-shaped plan with an L-shaped porch wrapped
around the northeast corner of the projecting front bay. The porch features turned_
posts , balustrades and a_ gablet with -nfetal finiaT'7ball . The two-bay 'facade .is
asymmetri cal arid con-sists--of an angled front entrance, facirig'diagonally to the
northeast, and fixed and 1/1 double-hung windows. A fixed windows with a leaded
glass transom faces_ the street. The frame construction is finished in asbestos
shingles and rests on a low concrete foundation. The gable roof is covered with
asphalt shingles and features metal ridgepoles with finial balls and overhanging
eaves. There is a central brick chimney and a central stovepipe.

This typical "Tri-gabled Homestead" or "Upright and Wing" vernacular
house is well-preserved, with the exception of the siding. It was
probably built by Fred C. Jacobs, variously listed as a lather and
contractor. Jacobs previously lived in, and perhaps built, 415 S.
Tracy, a similar vernacular house. He is listed at this address from
1910 (and perhaps a few years earlier as well ) and into the 1940's ,
and possibly later.
