MEMO DETAILS:
Trip generation volumes were determined for the proposed development of Headwaters Academy
based on Trip Generation 9th Edition – Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE). The proposed
project includes the construction of a new classroom building and parking lot and the remodeling for
use of an existing home. The school will consist of 6 classrooms (assuming 15 students per classroom)
for 90 total students. The gross square footage of the two buildings is 11,115 ft2.
The Land Use closest to the proposed project is Private School (K-8). Table 1 provides a summary of
trips generated based on number of students. Table 2 includes trip generation based on gross floor area
(per 1000 square feet).
According to the ITE manual, the weekday A.M. peak hour of the generator typically coincides with
the peak hour of the adjacent street traffic; therefore, only one A.M. peak hour, which represents both
the peak hour of the generator and the peak hour of the adjacent street traffic, is displayed. The
weekday P.M. peak hour varied between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.
