ORDINANCE NO. 1069
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN,
MONTANA, AMENDING SECTIONS 18.06 (DEFINITIONS), 18.51.020
(PERMITTED USES M-l), 18.57.020 (PERMITTED USES TR), 18.69.230
(SJPPLEMENTARY REGULATIONS - DESIGN/SCREENING GUIDELINES),
18.72.150 (CONDITIONAL USES BY ZONING DISTRICTS) OF THE
BOZEMAN MUNICIPAL CODE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN: I

That Section 18.06 of the Bozeman Municipal Code be and the same is hereby
amended to read as follows:
18.06.445 PUBLIC UTILITY FACILITY - A structure, excluding
structures with offices as the main use, or equipment used
as electric substations, utility booster stations for current
or pressure, or telephone satellite community dial office.

That Section 18.51.020 of the Bozeman Municipal Code be and the same is hereby
amended to read as follows:
18.51.020 PERMITTED USES
1- Accessory uses.
L. Ambulance service.
3. Building sales.
4. Building contractors establishments.
5. Cabinet shops.
6. Churches.
7. Conditional uses as provided in Chapter 18.72.
8. Enclosed warehousing.
9. Fire stations. I
10. Flour and feed mills.
II. Food processing plants.
lL. Gasoline service stations.
13. Grain Elevators.
14. Greenhouses.
15. Machine Shops.
16. Manufacturing of light consumer goods, i.e., electronic equipment,
appliances, furniture, beverages.
17. Outside storage if accessory to permitted use and if screened from
street and surrounding properties by solid fence or dense plantings
at least six (6) feet high.
18. Paint shops.
19. Public Utnity Facility.
20. Repair and service establishments for light consumer goods, i.e.,
automobiles, appliances, furniture.
2I. Signs.
22. Sign shops.
23. Temporary buildings for and during construction only.
24. Truck and rail terminal facilities.
25. Vehicle and boat sales.

That Section 18.57.020 of the Bozeman Municipal Code be and the same is hereby
amended to read as fo 11 ows:
18.57.020 PERMITTED USES
1- Accessory uses.
2. Computer research establishments. I
3. Conditional uses as provided in Chapter 18.72
4. Electronics research establishments.
5. Public Utility Facility.
6. Signs (one identification sign per establishment).
7. Temporary buildings for and during construction only.

That Section 18.69.230 of the Bozeman Municipal Code be and the same is hereby
amended to read as follows:
18.69.230 PUBLIC UTILITY FACILITY DESIGN GUIDELINE
All public utility facilities shall be enclosed by a
I six (6) foot high fence and shall be screened by either
a solid fence, trees, shrubbery or a combination of
screened elements.

That Section 18.72.150 of the Bozeman Municipal Code be and the same is hereby
amended to read as follows:
18.72.150 CONDITIONAL USES BY ZONING DISTRICT
The following uses may be permitted as conditional uses in the districts as specified:
AS Agriculture S~burban Di~trict
Public and private parks and playgrounds, golf courses and
country clubs, hunting and fishing clubs, schools and travel
trailer parks, and television and radio broadcasting studios
and transmitters, ambulance servdce, and public utility
faci'1 ities.
RS Residential Suburban
Schools (non-board, nursery, elementary, junior and senior high),
public and private parks and playgrounds, golf courses and country
clubs, other recreational uses, F.C.C. earth stations, P.U.D.'s as
provided in Chpater 18.75 of this ordinance, ambulance service, and
public utility facilities.
I R-l Single Family Residentia'l - Low Density
Schools, libraries, public and private parks and playgrounds, golf
courses and country clubs, P.U.D.'s as provided in Chapter 18.75 of
this ordinance, ambulance service, and public utility facilities.
R-2 S1ng-le Family Residential - Medium Density
Same as R-l District.
R-3 Residential - Medium Density
Conditional uses provided in the R-l, and R-2 districts that are not
permitted uses in the R-3 district, as provided in Chapter 18.78 of
this ordinance, P.U.D.'s as provided in Chapter 18.75 of this ordinance,
fraternity and sorority houses and medical offi ces.
R-4 Residential - Medium Density Apartments
Same as R-3 District.
R-5 Residential - High Density
Same as R-4 District.
R-MH Residential - Mobile Home
Public utility Facilities
R-O Residential-Office District
I Nursing homes and hospitals, churches, public and private parks and
playgrounds. Other types of medical facilitres or personal services not
listed as a permitted use, P.U.D.'s as provided in Chapter 18.75 of this
ordinance, ambulance serviCe, and public utility facilities.
8-1 Neighborhood Business District
Retail uses in addition to those permitted uses listed but limited to those
serving the customer directly, gasoline service stations, and professional
and business office uses.

B-2 Community - Highway Business District
Retail uses in addition to those permitted uses listed, wholesale
distributors with on-premise retail out'lets provided warehousing
is limited to commodities which are sold on the premises, amusement
and recreational activities, shopping c:e.nteX"~ travel trailer parks
as provided in Chapter 18.81 of this ordinance, residence for
owner or caretaker, P.U.D.'s as provided in Chapter 18.75 of this I
ordinance, and public utility facilities.
B-3 Central Business District
Amusement and recreation activities, auction rooms, transportation
and utility stations, apartments, drive-in banks and cleaners,-radio
and T.V. broadcasting and transmitting studios.
M-l Commercial - Light Manufacturing
Amusement and recreational activities, open storage (if adequately
screened), retail estab-lishments (in addition to those "listed in
Chapter 18.51),residences for owner or caretaker, P.U.D.'s as pro-
vided in Chapter 18.75 of this ordinance, animal shelter, and
veterinary clinics.
M-2 Manufacturing and Industrial
Junk salvage yards (if adequately screened), residences for owner or
caretaker.
TR Technology Research District
Other research establishments not listed as permitted uses, planned
research establishments as provided in Chapter 18.75 of this ordinance.
PLI Public Lands and Institutions
Public Utility Facilities

This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after thirty (30)
days after its adoption.
PASSED, ADOPTED AND APPROVED by the City Commission of the City of Bozeman, Montana,
this 22nd day of July. 1981.
