Subject: ...as we begin infrastructure improvements on Wallace
Hello everybody,
If one or all of you could call me about the potential loss of $10,000 - $20,000 worth of landscaping to
the front of my house on Wallace that would be super. I have largely ignored the process as I am in favor
of the improvements and was, shall we say very disappointed (that sounds nicer than really f******
angry :), to find out yesterday that the damage to my home will be much more significant than I had
anticipated. I’m not sure that regrading an area that I will promptly replant (therefore re-regrading,
unless you are only going to allow water sucking lawns post construction) is a great use of anyone’s time
or money.
I guess I was naïve to trust the process and the city officials involved in it. I should have been at the
meetings bitching instead of convincing my neighbors that improvements to infrastructure are a good
thing. And I guess this is what I get for trying to improve my neighborhood and my community, trying to
reduce water use on my lot, and generally trying to fix problems that the city has ignored for decades.
A little less heavy handed approach by the by the construction company and a little more respect for the
people who have spent so many years taking care of this neighborhood and you are going to have A LOT
less pissed off people at the end of this process. I hope I don’t need to remind you that we are the ones
footing the bill.
I am contacting Knife River now to double check the facts and see if there is anything to be done. In lieu
of that, should I ask them about the compensation that is written into their bids for reimbursing
homeowners for losses or is that a matter to take up with you guys?
Thank you for your time and consideration, Sharon
