ORDINANCE NO. 1042
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA, AMENDING SECTION 16.04 OF
THE BOZEMAN CODE, PROVIDING FOR THE PROTECTION OF THE PUBLIC HEALTH AND
SAFETY: REQUIRING A PERMIT AND INSPECTION FOR THE INSTALLATION OR ALTER-
ATION OF PLUMBING AND DRAINAGE SYSTEMS; DEFINING CERTAIN TERMS; ESTAB-
LISHING MINIMUM REGULATIONS FOR THE INSTALLATION, ALTERATION OR REPAIR
I OF PLUMBING AND DRAINAGE SYSTEMS AND THE INSPECTION THEREOF, PROVIDING
PENALTIES FOR ITS VIOLATION AND REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 983 AND ALL OTHER
ORDINANCES OR PARTS THEREOF OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN IN CONFLICT HEREWITH:
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA,
AS FOLLOWS, TO-WIT:
Section 1
16.04.010 ADOPTION: A certain document, three copies of which are on file in the office
of the Building Official of the City of Bozeman, Montana, being marked and designated as
"Uniform Plumbing Code," 1979 edition as published by the International Association of Plumb-
ing and Mechanical Officials and amended or modified by the Building Codes Division of the
Department of Administration, Helena, Montana, is hereby adopt~d as the Plumbing Code of
the City of Bozeman for the regulation of plumbing and drainagg systems in the City of
Bozeman; providing for penalties for violation of such code; and each and all of the reg-
ulations, provisions, penalties, conditions and terms of the "Uniform Plumbing Code", 1979
edition as published by the International Association of Plubming and Mechanical Officials
and amended or modified by the Building Codes Division of the Department of Administration,
Helena, Montana, on file in the office of the Building Official are hereby referred to,
adopted, and made a part hereof as if fully set out in this chapter; save and except
such portions thereof as have been deleted, modified or amended in the aforementioned
official copies.
I Section 2
16.04.020 ADDITIONS: The following paragraphs shall be added to the Uniform Plumbing
Code.
ADD SECTION 20.15 to PART 1 - Administration of the Uniform Plubming Code, as follows:
20.15 BONDS: Every Master Plumber doing plumbing work in the City of Bozeman shall
file with the City, a bond in the sum of $5,000.00 conditioned that he will in good
faith perform all things required of him by the laws of the City of Bozeman. Said
bond shall be filed in the office of the Building Official for Approval.
ADD SECTION 20.16 to PART 1 - Administration of the Uniform Plumbing Code as follows:
20.16 CONNECTIONS TO SEWER AND WATER MAINS: The City of Bozeman shall make all service
connections (doing all necessary work and furnishing necessary materials) from the
sewer and water mains to the property line; charges for such work shall be paid by
the property owner or his agent and accompany the application for service connection.
The charges for such connections shall be fixed by the City Commission from time to
time.
Water services, from property line to and including the water meter, shall be in-
stalled by the City Water Department upon proper application by the owner or his
agent and receipt of a deposit based upon the estimated cost; provided, that any
excess over the actual costs shall be refunded to the applicant upon completion of
I the work. Should the actual cost be more thanthe estimated deposit the owner or his
agent shall pay the additional fee.
Section 3
That Ordinance No. 983 of the City of Bozeman, and all other ordinances or parts of
ordinances in conflict herewith, are hereby repealed.
Section 4
That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after thirty (30) days
after its adoption.
