Lamme Commission Memorandum REPORT TO: Honorable Mayor and City Commission FROM: Tom Rogers, Senior Planner Wendy Thomas, Director of Community Development SUBJECT: Set the public hearing on application 15320, the Lamme Street ZMA Application from May 23, 2016 to June 27, 2016. MEETING DATE: May 23, 2016 AGENDA ITEM TYPE: Action RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the Commission conducts the public hearing on June 27, 2016. RECOMMENDED MOTION: I hereby continue the public hearing on application 15530, The Lamme Street Zone Map Amendment application from May 23, 2016 to June 27, 2016. BACKGROUND: On Monday, May 2, 2016 the Commission directed to staff to initiate the process to rezone properties previously removed from the Midtown rezoning application. Staff prepared notice for the newspaper and a notice for mailing to property owners within the proposed district and within 500 feet of the exterior boundaries of the proposed district. The first of two newspaper notices were published on May 8 meeting notice requirements for the May 23 hearing. However, staff was unable to meet the deadlines of for mailing notice to the 109 property owners included and within 500 feet of the exterior boundaries of the proposed district before close of business on Friday, May 6, 2016. Staff respectfully requests the proposed hearing date to be conducted on June 27, 2016 to allow proper notice for the application. Notice exceeding City requirements is being performed to insure adequate public participation. UNRESOLVED ISSUES: None. ALTERNATIVES: The City Commission has the following alternative actions available: 1. Set an alternate date for the public hearing. FISCAL EFFECTS: None identified at this time.
