Contract Amdmnt 5 N7 Maierle Commission Memorandum REPORT TO: Honorable Mayor and City Commission FROM: David Fine, Economic Development Specialist SUBJECT: North 7th Avenue Lighting and Sidewalk Project, Engineering Contract Amendment No. 5 with Morrison-Maierle MEETING DATE: May 23, 2016 AGENDA ITEM TYPE: Consent RECOMMENDATION: Authorize the City Manager to Contract Amendment No. 5 with Morrison-Maierle. BACKGROUND: The top priority project for the Midtown Urban Renewal Board has been installing sidewalks that are setback from N. 7th Avenue, new architectural street lights, and enhanced landscaping along the corridor. The engineering contract for this work has been extended in phases by amendment. The proposed amendment is for design and construction engineering for the third phase of the project, which will be undertaken between Main St. and Villard St. FISCAL EFFECTS: The engineering work described by the amendment is $158,188.03. The District budget for FY16 included $178,025 for engineering between Main and Durston. The project has required staff to obtain right of way easements from property owners; we have 4 easements that still must be obtained for the Main to Villard section. Engineering costs will increase over the original estimate due to the inclusion of street trees, permeable pavers, and additional ADA ramps. The Midtown Urban Renewal District’s preliminary work plan and budget for the 2017 fiscal year includes a funding request to support continued design and construction engineering for this project.
