HomeMy WebLinkAbout05-16-16 Darr, 304 W Cleveland, Public CommentAs a home owner on South 3rd (901), I fully support the vacation rental property that is seeking approval today. I have personally know Ian Woods and Jen Patterson for
several years and we have stayed at their property while our house was
being remodeled. This is a lovely property and they are very invested in this home as
well as the neighborhood. Ian grew up one 2 blocks west of the current property and loves this neighborhood. He purchased the current home on Cleveland years ago and has completely remodeled the home including the landscaping, making this home
another beautiful historical home in the neighborhood.
I personally would rather have short term renters in the neighborhood vs long term renters, particularly in such a large home. I would rather have screened upscale renters than long term renters (like students) who may be rowdy and really change the vibe of
the neighborhood. "Squatters" have been an issue with long term renters in our
neighborhood and the laws prohibit immediate eviction. A short term rental would avoid
this issue.
There are over 300 vacation rentals in this town, 80 in our area. Jenn and Ian are
going through the proper procedures and should not be penalized for this.
With parking, they have ample driveway space which can fit up to 4 vehicles and generally short term renters have one rental car.
