Message: Pleas do not reinstitute paid parking in our downtown area. If memory serves me correctly,
parking meters were removed as an effort to keep the downtown more user friendly when the Gallatin
Mall was built. Downtown merchants not only have to compete with plentiful parking at large stores,
but they must also compete with the convenience of online purchases. Our downtown is a jewel; we
must not harm its success with citizens having to grope for coins and worry about time constraints.
There are abuses of free parking, but creative solutions for that can be found. Jane Hawks 703 West
