ORDINANCE NO. 976
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 18. 30. 040 , 18. 33. 030 ,
18. 33. 040, 18. 36. 030 AND 18. 86. 040 OF THE BOZEMAN .
MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO LOT AREA AND WIDTH, LOT
COVERAGE AND FLOOR AREA REQUIREMENTS IN THE R-3
(RESIDENTIAL-MEDIUM DENSITY) , R-4 (RESIDENTIAL-
MEDIUM DENSITY APARTMBNTS) , AND R-5 (RESIDENTIAL-
HIGH DENSITY) DISTRICTS AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFEC-
TIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA, AS

FOLLOWS, TO WIT:
Section 1
That Section 18. 30. 040 of the Bozeman Municipal Code be and the same is hereby
amended to read as follows :
18. 30. 040 LOT COVERAGE AND FLOOR AREA
Not more than 40 percent (40%) of the lot shall :be occupied
by the principal and accessory buildings. Each dwelling
unit shall have a minimum of 750 square feet of floor area. *
*Efficiency unit excepted
Section 2
That Section 18. 33. 030 of the Bozeman Municipal Code be and the same is hereby
amended to read as follows :
18. 33. 030 LOT AREA ANI WIDTH
a. Lot area for single-family dwellings shall not be less
than 5,000 square feet with a minimum lot width of 50
feet.
b. Lot area for other buildings shall not be less than
5,000 square feet plus 2 ,300 square feet for each
additional unit over one with a minimum lot width of
50 feet.

That Section 18. 33. 040 of the Bozeman Municipal Code be and the same is hereby
amended to read as follows :
18. 33. 040 LOT (OVERAGE AND FLOOR AREA
Not more than 40 percent (40%) of the lot area shall be
occupied by the principal and accessory buildings. Each
dwelling unit shall have a minimum of 750 square feet in
its living quarters . *
*Efficiency unit excepted
Section 4
That Section 18. 36. 030 of the Bozeman Municipal Code be and the same is hereby
amended to read as follows :
18. 36. 030 LOT AREA AND WIDTH
a. Lot area for single-family dwellings shall not be less
than 5,000 square feet with a minimum lot width of 50 feet.
b. Lot area for two to four family dwellings shall not be
less than 5, 000 square feet plus 1,600 square feet for
each additional unit over one with a minimum lot width of
50 feet.
c. Lot area for apartment buildings up to two stories shall
not be less than 5,000 square feet plus 790 square feet
for each additional dwelling unit over one. Minimum lot
width shall be 50 feet.
d. Lot area for apartment buildings three or more stores
shall not be less than 5, 000 square feet plus 600 square
feet for each additional dwelling unit over one. Minimum
lot width shall be 50 feet.

Section 5
That Section 18. 36. 040 of the Bozeman Municipal Code be and the same is hereby
amended to read as follows :
18. 36. 040 LOT COVERAGE AND FLOOR AREA
Not more than 40 percent (40%) of the lot shall be occupied
by the principal accessory buildings. Each dwelling unit
shall have a minimum of 600 square feet of floor area in its
living quarters. *
*Efficiency unit excepted
Section 6
This ordinance shall be in full force and effect 30 days from and after its
final passage and approval according to law.
PASSED by the City Commission and approved by the Mayor of the City of Bozeman
this 4th day of August, 1976.
