HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance 69- 886, Adopts mechanical code, repeals Ord. 678A. 156 ORDINANCE NO. 886 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA, REGULATING AND CONTROLLING THE DESIGN, CONSTRUCTION, INSTALLATION, QUALITY OF MATERIALS, LOCATION, OPERATION, AND MAINTENANCE OF HEATING, VENTILATING, COMFORT COOLING, REFRIGERATION SYSTEMS, INCINERATORS, AND OTHER MISCELLANEOUS HEAT~PRO- DUCING APPLIANCES IN THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA: PROVIDING FOR THE ISSUANCE OF PERMITS AND COLLECTION OF FEES THEREFORE: PROVIDING PENAL- TIES FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF; REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 678A OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN AND ALL OTHER ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA, AS FOLLOWS, TO-WIT: ********** Section 1. That a certain document, three (3) copies of which are on file in the office of the Building Inspector of the City of Bozeman, being marked and designated as "Uniform Building Code, Volume II, 1967 Edition, published by the International Conference of Building Officials," be and the same is hereby adopted as the mechanical code of the City of Bozeman for regulating and controlling the design, construction, installation. quality of materials, location, operation and maintenance of heating, ventilation, comfort cooling, refrigeration systems. incinerators and other miscellaneous heat-producing appliances in the City of Bozeman; providing for issuance of permits and collection of fees therefore; providing penalties for violation of such code; and each and all of the regulations. provisions, penalties, conditions and terms of such "Uniform Building Code. Volume II, 1967 Edition, published by the International Conference of Building Officials," on file in the office of the Building Inspector are hereby referred to, adopted, and made a part hereof as if fully set out in this Ordinance; save and except such portions as have been deleted, modified or amended in the aforementiOned official copies. Section 2. That whenever the words"Municipality" or "City" is used in the code hereby adopted. it shall be held to mean the City of Bozeman. Section 3. Should any Chapter, section. or paragraph of the Code hereby adopted be in con- flict with the rules and regulations of the Montana Power Company, the rules, regulations and requirements of the Montana Power Company shall prevail. Section 4. Sections of Uniform Building Code, Volume II deleted. The following sections of the Uniform Building Code, Volume II. 1967 Edition, published by the International Conference of Building Officials shall be deemed to be deleted and omitted frOm such Code as adopted by this ordinance and such sections shall not constitute a part of the official Mechanical Code of the City of Bozeman; Chapter 15, 16, 17 and that section of the Appendix listed Standard No. 15-1-67. Where any of the above numbered sections are carried by identical numbers in both the body of said Mechanical Code and in the appendix thereto, both such identically numbered secUons shall be deleted and omitted and neither shall constitute a part of this Code. Section 5. Sections of Mechanical Code Amended. The following numbered sections of the Mechanical Code, in this chapter by reference adopted. are amended to read as hereinafter set forth and as so amended to read as hereinafter set forth and as so amended shall supersede that section so numbered in the said Mechanical Code, and shall be a part of the official Mechanical Code of the City of Bozeman. Section 6. Permit Fees - Amendment of Section 304. Any person desiring a permit required by this Code. shall, at the time of filing an application therefore, pay a fee as required by this Section. 1. For the installation or relocation of each furnace, unit heater, space heater. range, wall heater, or similar heating appliance not listed elsewhere in this section, including ducts attached to such appliance --$1.00 2. For the installation. relocation or replacement of venting systems one (1) to five (5) outlets -------------------------------------------- 1.00 3. For each venting system over five (5) outlets, each additional --------- .25 4. For the installation or relocation of each boiler or each absorption system to and including 500,000 B.T.U. 's ________________w______________ 1.00 5. For the installation or relocation of each boiler or each absorption system over 500,000 B.T.U.'s ----------------------------~-------------- 2.00 6. For each air handling unit to and including 10,000 cubic feet per minute, including ducts attached thereto ------------------------------- 2.00 I I I 157 I NOTE: This fee shall not apply to an air handling unit which is a portion of a factory assembled appliance. Comfort cool- ing unit, evaporative cooler or absorption unit for which a permit is required elsewhere in this Code. 7. For each air handling unit over 10,000 cubic feet per minute --------- $3.00 8. For each ventilation system which is not a portion of any heating or air conditioning system authorized by a permit ----------------------- 2.00 9. For the installation or relocation of each domestic type incinerator-- 2.00 10. For the installation or relocation of each commercial or industrial type incinerator ----------------------------------------------------- 5.00 Section 7.
