Public Comment – Daryl noted
that presenters for Gallatin Sporting Clays will be unable to attend the meeting, so that action item was removed.
Voices of Montana grant request was presented by Dax Schieffer. He
shared what the organization does, and presented some statistics regarding tourism in Montana. In 2015, there were 11.7 million visitors to Montana, resulting in approximately $3.6
billion in non-resident spending, and providing over 50,000 jobs. They are seeking $5,000 in TBID funding to help spread the message to come to Montana. Eric motioned to approve $5,000
for Voices of Montana, second by Andrew. Motion approved unanimously.
Flying Horse was not present at the meeting for the marketing report, as it was deemed unnecessary at this time.
Prime,
Inc. was not present at the meeting for the website report, as it was deemed unnecessary at this time.
Daryl gave the Financial Report. Daryl noted that the TBID would be getting a check for $545K today, which will be the first check based on the $2 assessment. Andrew motioned to approve
the financials, second by Carl, motion approved.
The Visitor Information Center was discussed. In the near future they will be seeking $18,000 in matching funds from the TBID to staff
the Center at the Bozeman Airport.
Daryl and Eric presented some ideas for new grant request guidelines. All agreed it does not need a complete overhaul, but some minor tweaking would
streamline the process. Tom asked that some language be added to the effect that a presentation to the board should be required on all Grant Requests, mainly to provide an opportunity
for Q&A.
Other business – Ashley inquired as to why most rental cars in Bozeman are licensed outside of Montana. Some states require a certain percentage of rental cars to be licensed
in the state in which they are being rented. Seems like an opportunity to increase tax dollars within the state.
Motion to adjourn by Andrew, seconded by Eric, motion passed. Meeting
adjourned at 1:18 pm.
