HomeMy WebLinkAbout04-19-16, Sterry, True Dragon BreweryHi Mitch!
Thanks for taking the time to read my concerns about the proposed brewery. I live on East
Peach and Ida, have been a homeowner here for 15+ years.
1. Sidewalks. My wife and I walk the stretch of Avocado between my house on Peach and my
workshop on Broadway 2-3 times a day. It is a dangerous stretch of road to walk on, especially
in the winter when there is no shoulder. Kenyon trucks and Bronkins trucks battling for space
with pedestrians is a bad mix. I am adamant that the project should include sidewalk/curb and
gutter along both edges of the property that border city streets. I have not looked at the plans yet,
so please excuse me if these are indeed part of the plans. Please do not grant any exceptions that
will allow them to proceed without building sidewalk/curb and gutter.
2. Access to property. It makes much more sense to me to have the access to the brewery be
from Avocado, not Plumb. As you are aware, turning left from Plumb to Peach is a blind
intersection and will likely be even more dangerous after three beers. It would be great if the
address listed an Avocado address rather than a Plumb address, so folks don't drive Plumb
through the quiet neighborhood looking for the brewery.
3. Proximity effect. We will now have 2 breweries within a block. Although I like beer, and
support the idea of a well implemented brewery in my neighborhood, I worry that this sill mean
more drunk people around. It is nice to be able to go into a small neighborhood brewery and
hang out with folks, without there being drunk people around. Having 2 breweries within a
block increases the likelihood that folks will go from one to the next, and likely be more drunk
than sober. This will likely lead to more drunk driving, casual crime, and general unruliness.
4. Parking. Please ensure that you are not granting parking variances or deviations. The
intersection at Peach and Wallace is a complete mess because the city gave the Wild Crumb
variances on parking requirements. Clearly the city did not force MAP brewing to create enough
parking out there, folks are parked all over the road near MAP. I am afraid of parking spilling
over into the neighborhood.
Other than that, I like breweries! Thanks again for taking the time to read this. Can you confirm
for me that they will be building sidewalks?
Best Regards,
