HomeMy WebLinkAbout04-14-16 Public Comment - D. Bilyeu - Kagy ReconstructionHello... I drive Kagy every workday, all year round, on my way to and from my job. Problems I experience on a daily basis are; Tthe complete mess at 7th Avenue, where one car turning against traffic(left in either direction)can hold up 20 or more other cars moving east to west. The extra flashing light crossing at the stadium that causes traffic to stop at the light on 11th Avenue, which cycles normally, to travel only about a half block before being forced to stop yet again for anyone who won't walk to the existing light on 11th to get to their car parked west of the stadium,(for all practical considerations the same distance to walk.) I have been trapped in the 11th Avenue light intersection at light change because of this. Bicyclists who use any of the flashing crosswalk lights to hold up traffic when they are actually not pedestrians but commuters who should follow the prescribed rules of the road and behave as autos. Probably nothing you can do about that. I also don't think it's a good idea to close Kagy for football games. I realize this is a serious safety issue but is there better permanent solution such as underpass or overpass walkways for fans, students, bicyclists? There should definitely be a separate bike lane.on both east & westbound lanes that allow bicyclists to stay 4 feet or more from the traffic lanes outside demarcation. Is the median east of 7th avenue necessary? Seems like the space could be better used to move traffic. Thanks for reading... Dan Bilyeu 118 Sunset Boulevard Bozeman
