Commissioner Mehl,
We are writing in response to the proposal of adding R-5 and B-2M zoning districts to the Bozeman
Municipal Code.
We live on North 10th Ave. The Western boundary of our neighborhood is Bozeman High School.
According to the new proposal, R-5 and B-2M zoning will be allowed on the other three sides of our
neighborhood. If this zoning change happens, we will feel like we live in a box, instead of in beautiful
Bozeman, Montana. It doesn’t make sense to put both ends of the zoning spectrum (R-1 and R-5) side
by side in our city. There should be some transition of zones.
We respectfully ask that at the very least, the city allow for more time for public comment, since this
drastic change to the existing zoning districts has been moved through the system rather quickly, it
seems. These zones were not mentioned in the December 2015 zoning map. The work sessions and the
public hearings all happened within a few short weeks of one another. Our preference would be that
this would not pass.
Respectfully,
Joy & Carl Strizich
