My name is Blake Maxwell, and I live at 516 West Lamme Street. I'm contacting you
today in regards to the proposed re-zoning of my street. My neighbors and I have
written letters and attended several meetings to dissuade the City of Bozeman from
zoning our neighborhood R-5, the new and highest density residential designation. At
every point, our voices have been virtually ignored by staff members so intent on a
massive rezoning in our city that they haven't got time to consider the people who live
within it.
The irony is that I, like a lot of my Lamme Street neighbors, want to see North 7th
improve. I just don't understand why this nice street needs to be plowed under for that
to happen. After all, most of these houses were built long before any of the North 7th
commercial properties were developed.
So if you can spare 20 minutes, please take the time between now and the big vote on
Monday night for a walk on West Lamme Street. I recommend evening-time, starting at
3rd and going back and forth to 7th. I believe you'll find one of the north side's best little
residential streets and, if you look closely, you might even discover the type of working-
class neighborhood that's such a priority right now.
