Sec tion 1 ~ Q,:) It':) ~,= (l:) c:~ ~ c::::) ;;>-. ~ ~::::r f1,) -- eti ~.) ~ c{g "An Ordinance ReglJlating 'I'raffic Upon the Public Streets, Avenues, and Alleys of The City of Bozeman, Montana, and Repealing Ordinances Nos. 576 and 610, of The City of Bozeman, and all Other Ordinances and Parts of Ordinances in Conflict Herewith," I That Sections 15, 23 and 49 of Ordinance ,No. 672 of The City of Bozemen entitled: be, and the same are hereby amended to read as follows: Section 15. PZDES1'RIANS I RIGHT OF V>lAY: (a) The operator of any vehicle shall yield the right-of-way to a pedestrian crossing the roadway within any marked crosswalk or within an unmarked crosswalk at the end of a block, except at intersections where the movement of traffic is being regulated by police officers or traffic control signals. (b) Whenever any vehicle has s topped a t a marked crosswalk or a t any in tersection to permi t a pedes trian to cros s the roadway, it shall be unlawful for the opera tor of any other vehic Ie approaching from the rear to overtake and pass such stopped vehic Ie. (0) Pedestrians shall cross any arterial street or avenue at intersections or con- nections only, by pass:1.,nC" over such portion of the arterial street or avenue being crossed aa is included 'Nithin the lines of the sidewalk projected. Diagonal cl'ossing, or what is commonly known as "Jay Walking," is prohibited on any arterial street or avenue; crossing I Ma'n Street at any other pace tban street intersections, and within the marked projected sidewalk lines when provided is prohibited. (d) Any pedestrian crossing any non-arterial street or avenue at any point other than an intersection and within the marked projected sidewalk lines when provided, shall yield the right of way to vehicles; provided, that this provision shall not relieve the driver of any vehicle of ttle dvty to exercise due care for tthesafety of pedestrians in all circumstances and under all conditions. Sec tion 23. STOPPING PROHIBITED IN SP!i:CIFI'm PLACES. It shall be unlawful for the opeator of a vehicle to stop, stand or park such vehicle in any of the following places, except when necessary to avoid conflict with other traffic or in compliance with the directions of a police officer or traffic control sign or signal: 1. Witl1in an intersection 2. O~ a Crosswalk. 3. Between a safety zone and the adjacent ct1.rb or w:i.t:-.in twenty (20) feet of points on the curb immediately opposite trill ends of a safety zone, unless a def,:nite length is indicated by sic;ns. I 4. Within twenty-five (25) feet from the intersection of curb lines, or, if none, then within fifteen (15) feet of the intersection of property lines at an intersection, except at alleys. 5. YH thin thirty (30) feet upon the approach to any flashing beacon, stop sign or traffic control signal locats1 at the side of the roadway. 6. Within fifteen (15) feot of the driveway entrance to any fire station. 7. 'iiithin fifteen (15) feet of a fire hydrant. 8. In front of a private driveway, or on private property marked for private parking. I I I 189 9. On a sidewalk. 10. Along or opposite any street excavation or obstrllction when such stopping, standin['; or parking obstructs traffic. 11. Double parking 1s prohibited. Sec tion 49. LHnTATIONS ON TURlI:ING AROUND Turning around, or what is commonly known as a "U" turn, is prohJbi ted on ~~ain Street. If such a turn is made on any other arterial street or avenue it shall be at the rlsh of the driver making it. EFFECTIVE DATE This Ardinance shall be in full force and effect from and after thirty (30) days ,,' '-... after its adoption.
