AN ORDINANCE OF TIlE CITY OF BOZET-iIAH, MON'I'ANA, PROHIBITING FALSE
OF FIRE, PRESCRIBING PENALTIES POR VIOIATION OF' THIS ORDINANCE,
ING AN EMERGENCY, AND REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 397.
PREAMBLE
Whereas from time to time false alarms of fire are sent into Bozeman Fire Depart-
ment from fire alarm boxes and by telephone, causing said Fire Department to turn out
and make runs with its fire apparatus for the purpose of exttnguishlng such nlleged
fires to the loss and damage of The City of Bozeman, the misuse of the fire equipment of
said City, annoyance and disturbance of the said Fire Department and the annoyance, dis-
turbance and alarm of citizens generally, and there is no ordinance of The City of
Bozem.a.n adequately, clearly and dist:1 nctly proLibit.'iLC; such ofi'er2es, disburbances and
false alareG, .''.!lU an emergency exists.
Therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN:
Section 1.
No 'lerson shall wilfully use any fire alarm box, or telephone, or any means what-
soever, for transmitting or sending in to the Fire Department of The City of Bozenlan an
alarm of fire which he knows to be false; nor shall wilfully tnr:lper with, <;>r injure or
destroy any such fire alarm box or any of the equipment thereof.
Section 2
Any person violating the provisions of this Ordinance shall upon conviction thereof
in the Police Court of The City of Bozeman,be fined not lesn than ton dollars and not more
tl1an three hundred dollars, or be imprisoned in the City or County jail for a period of
not more than ninety days, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
Section 3
AS set out in the preamble hereto an emergency exists and by reason thereof this
Ordinance shall be in full furce and effect from and a,-.ter its passage Rnd adoption.
Section 4.
Ordinance No. 397 of The City of Bozeman is hereby repealed.
