HomeMy WebLinkAbout02-29-16, Perlstein, Bozeman Creek FloodingDear Commissioners,
As many of you know I've attempted to work on solutions for the Creekside Park and other
areas of flooding here in Bozeman for a few years. I have looked specifically into ways to secure
monies, consider life safety issues, protect housing, and beautify our city's namesake creek. It’s
terribly frustrating to be told I had to wait 8 years to have the City of Bozeman receive an
updated FEMA map. Now you have the map and can see, as was already known, my property is
not suppose to flood. So now I specifically ask : what is the plan now that we know my property
is not supposed to flood? A nonresponse would once again lead to a strange, unfriendly, non-
businesslike environment. This wouldn't be tolerated for an applicant in the engineer, building,
or planning departments and shouldn't be acceptable behavior.
I, again, challenge the City of Bozeman to look into mitigation grants, stream restoration
grants, or Land and Water Conservation Fund grants if not lead partner. The current situation
with the Bozeman Creek is anti-community and anti-environmental. Please don’t make the new
Western slogan “good sandbags make good neighbors”. David Perlstein
