I am emailing to encourage you to make the “Compact of Mayors” Level 3 a priority for the
2016-2017.
The City worked with the community to develop a Climate Action Plan and the City is working
to implement that plan to reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions (GHE) in Bozeman.
Part of that plan’s recommendations were to develop an adaptation or residency plan to be ready
to handle effects of climate change on our community.
That still needs to be done.
Phase 3 of the Compact of Mayors can help Bozeman:
Better assess its vulnerability from climate change using the Compact Standard
Develop a Resiliency / Adaptive Plan
Help the City update how it calculates GHEmissions to the international standard where
you can compare apples to apples
This is an important next step that other cities are taking to be ready for what will hit Bozeman
even as we reduce our carbon footprint.
It involves, the Sustainability staff, Emergency Management staff and the community.
Thank you for making it a priority in 2016-2017 for Bozeman to be ready to handle the effects of
Climate change thru the Compact of Mayors Level 3 program.
