HomeMy WebLinkAbout1990-01-08spc "" '~ MI NUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETI NG OF THE CITY COMMISSION BOZEMAN, MONT ANA January 8, 1990 ********************** The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in special session in the Commission Room, Municipal Building, January 8,1990, at 10:00 a.m., for reorganization purposes, as designated in Section 7-3-4322(1), M.C.A., and Chapter 2.04.040(A) of the Bozeman Mu- nicipal Code, and in accordance with the results of the General Municipal Election held on Tuesday, November 7, 1989. Present were Mayor Stiff, Commissioner Vant Hull, Commis- sioner Martel, Commissioner-Elect Frost, Commissioner-Elect Knapp, City Manager Wysocki, City Attorney Becker and Clerk of the Commission Sullivan. Absent were Commissioner Hawks, Commissioner Goehrung and Commissioner-Elect Swanson. The meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance and a moment of silence. Authorize absence of Commissioner Hawks and Commissioner Goehrung It was moved by Commissioner Vant Hull, seconded by Commissioner Martel, that the absence of Commissioner Hawks and Commissioner Goehrung from this special meeting be authorized in compliance with Section 7-3-4322(2), M.C.A. The motion carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Vant Hull, Commissioner Martel and Mayor Stiff; those voting No, none. Signing of the Notice of Special Meeting Mayor Stiff stated the Clerk of the Commission has prepared, and served upon the Commissioners, written notice of this special meeting. He then requested that those Com'- missioners and Commissioners-Elect present sign the notice. Reorganization of City Commission This was the time and place set in the Montana Code Annotated for the reorga- nization of the City Commission as per the results of the General Municipal Election held on Tuesday, November 7, 1989. The Official Bonds and Oaths of Office of Beverly H. Knapp and Joe N. Frost, newly-elected City Commissioners, for four-year terms commencing Janu- ary 8, 1990, have been approved and said Bonds and Oaths of Office are on file in the office of the Clerk of the City Commission. Also, the Bond and Oath of Office for James L. Goehrung, continuing Commissioner, is on file in the office of the Clerk of the City Commission. Mayor Stiff asked the Clerk of the Commission to administer the Oaths of Office to the two incoming Commissioners who were present. 01-08-90 Special --- ~...... -p'..... - 2 - Clerk of the Commission Sullivan then administered the Oaths of Office to Incoming Commissioner Knapp and Incoming Commissioner Frost; and the new Commissioners were seated. Mayor Stiff reminded the Commission of the meeting which has been scheduled for 10: 15 a. m. with Senator Baucus. He suggested that this meeting be adjourned to allow the Commissioners an opportunity to reach the Community Room at the library prior to that meeting time. Adjournment - 10:05 a.m. There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it was moved by Commissioner Knapp, seconded by Commissioner Frost, that the meeting be ad- jou rned .
