participating on the Zoning Commission because I deeply care about Bozeman's development. I
believe responsible zoning can provide efficient densities, walkability, and neighborhood
development while respecting the character of existing neighborhoods. I believe sitting on a
public board is a serious obligation, one in which the board member is responsible to educate themselves on the related codes/ordinances that are being administered. I am committed to
understanding the pertinent sections of the UDO and providing the fairest interpretation of the

Please explain your relevant qualifications, interests and experiences. *: I received a Master’s
Degree in Architecture from MSU in 2008. After graduation I moved to Anchorage, Alaska and
worked for two different architecture firms. While in Alaska I witnessed the impact of unsustainable land use and how improper planning can negatively affect a community by
420
generating sprawl and detrimentally impacting the quality of life of its citizens. Living in Alaska
spurred my desire to become an advocate for sustainable planning, quality design, and careful
land usage - and I yearned to return to Bozeman to continue in the architectural profession. After
relocating back to Bozeman in 2012, I was impassioned to become an advocate for quality planning and design which spurred me to write a popular blog, soapboxarchitect.com. Besides blogging, I currently am a Project Manager at Pearson Design Group and wish to positively
impact the future development of the community I cherish.
