Message: To the City Commission: I am writing to you regarding the agenda item on this
evening's meeting to discuss and vote on on reclaiming the Golden Gate Condominium project
from the Planning Department. You may or may not have heard by now that the developer met
with the Board of the Loyal Gardens HOA last Thursday to discuss changes to the plan. I can
appreciate the proposed changes, but they do little to address my primary concerns regarding
traffic (all traffic from this development onto Golden Gate Avenue and the adjacent intersections
near the entrances to the subdivision. There appears to be a way to add an additional access to
the east across Baxter Creek onto a cul-de-sac at the north end of Winnow Ave. This would
require an access easement across a strip of open space that is owned by the Loyal Gardens
HOA. If this additional access were built, it seems clear that it would take a significant amount
of the traffic pressure off of Golden Gate and its intersections with Alpha and Advance Drive. If
the developer were to commit to also adding this access, I think that a strong majority of
homeowners in LG would support the project. But if the developer does not include this in his
plan, it seems clear that the City Commision should proceed with reclaiming this project so that
the traffic impact on the internal streets of the subdivision could be studied more closely. I really
