Dear David Fine,
I am pleased to submit this application for the North 7th Rehab Technical Assistance Program (fiscal year 2015) for
the 612 W. Beall Renovation Project. This application is for a Technical Assistance Grant regarding preliminary
design and investigative services for our project located within the TIF district on the North 7th Corridor. This grant
will enable us to explore the possibility of renovating the exterior and interior of a small commercial building built in
1972 and last renovated in 1980. The following is a detailed breakdown of the project scope and how it meets the
requirements set forth in the North 7th Rehab Funding Program.
Project Location
612 W. Beall Street, Bozeman MT 59715.
Project Description
FOCUS Architects is submitting this grant funding application so that we can investigate the feasibility of renovating
the exterior and interior of this commercial property. This preliminary design exploration includes:
1. A site survey of the property (Civil Engineering consultant).
2. Façade enhancement design including the potential for updating signage, looking at the possibility
of entry roof systems, new window systems, new siding systems, new exterior lighting systems,
etc.
3. Interior renovation space planning including a structural analysis of the existing building systems.
4. Informal Review with the city of Bozeman Planning Department.
North 7th Rehab Funding Requirements
This project will significantly enhance the N. 7th corridor by renovating a 1970’s building into a modern commercial
office building. The major objective of this design investigation will be to determine the feasibility of redesigning the
dated exterior of this building and renovating the interior space.

Projected Timeline
1. Preliminary design and investigative services shall begin immediately upon approval of grant funding.
2. December: complete the site survey, begin schematic design, and begin informal review with the planning
department.
3. January: complete cost estimating.
4. February: begin construction and submit final documents for grant funding disbursement.
Technical Assistance Requested
Because of the complexity of renovating the existing structure and meeting the city of Bozeman planning
department requirements we are requesting a $5,000.00 Technical Assistance Grant. This funding will be used to
pay for professional services rendered by FOCUS Architects as well as Civil Engineering fees, and other
professional fees in order to determine the feasibility of this project. FOCUS Architects will investigate all project
constraints, test design solutions, help determine cost implications of different solutions, and generate all
documents required for the planning informal review process. This grant funding shall be used to determine project
viability and represents only a portion of total design fees (TBD).
If you have any questions regarding this application please contact myself at (406) 579-8450. Thank you for the
opportunity to submit this application and we look forward to your response.
Sincerely
