PROJECT NEWSLETTER 1
November 2015
The City of Bozeman and the Montana Department of Transporta on (MDT) have ini ated a
community transporta on planning process to develop a Transporta on Master Plan (TMP).
A previous Transporta on Plan was completed in 2007 which provides a blueprint for guiding
transporta on infrastructure investments based on system needs and associated decision
making principles. Rapid growth, changes in land use, substan al upgrades to the
community's transporta on system, and the community's increasing interest in
transporta on related ma ers have necessitated a new examina on of transporta on issues
within the Bozeman area.
Project Goals
The TMP is intended to facilitate community goals and improve the transporta on
infrastructure and services within the Bozeman area to meet the needs of exis ng and future
land use. The TMP will address all modes of transporta on in a balanced a empt to meet
current and future needs while complying with State and Federal requirements. Specifically,
the TMP will achieve the following overall objec ves:
Coordinate transporta on planning with exis ng and future land use and other
community plans.
Improve regional transporta on circula on and iden fy primary travel demands.
Promote a safe, reliable and efficient transporta on network for vehicles, bicycles,
pedestrians, and the disabled.
Iden fy improvement priori es, implementa on strategies, and policies to maintain and
enhance the func onality of the transporta on system.
