Northern Rocky CRDC Commission Memorandum REPORT TO: Honorable Mayor and City Commission FROM: Stacy Ulmen, CMC City Clerk Chris Kukulski, City Manager SUBJECT: Letter of Support for the Northern Rocky Mountain Economic Development District’s (NRMEDD) to serve as a Certified Regional Development Corporation (CRDC) MEETING DATE: November 23, 2015 AGENDA ITEM TYPE: Action Item RECOMMENDATION: Approve a Letter of Support for the Northern Rocky Mountain Economic Development District’s (NRMEDD) in their Service as the Designated Agency for the Montana Department of Commerce as its Certified Regional Development Corporation. BACKGROUND: The NRMEDD has supported the City in its local Broadband initiative, helped to establish industry sectors, conducted key industry studies, been a champion of our community’s not-for-profit organizations and has led a program to bring global technology companies to Montana. They have requested that the City Commission write a letter of support supporting them as a Certified Regional Development Corporation (CRDC). UNRESOLVED ISSUES: None ALTERNATIVES: Modify the Letter of Support or do not approve. FISCAL EFFECTS: None. The NRMEDD has long been active in our area supporting business and industry. It has a proven record of promoting the economic development interests of Gallatin and Park counties and its 27 member board with county commissioners, mayors, MSU, the airport and major business leaders is broadly representative of this area’s business and political community. The NRMEDD has successfully supported the City in its local Broadband initiative, helped to establish industry sectors, conducted key industry studies, been a champion of our community’s not-for-profit organizations and has led a program to bring global technology companies to Montana. NRMEDD management team has experience with state and federally funded programs including HUD Community Development Block Grants, Big Sky Trust Fund and revolving loan funds.
