D. Discussed bike infrastructure planning/priorities with Craig Woolard : Bozeman Public Works Director.
They are at the beginning of the budget process & wanted to check in. The goal is to look
at long term infrastructure. He would like us to think about what we would like to
accomplish over the next 10 years and prioritize our requests. He will be back in touch in a
few months to visit about a long term plan. Next summer, they will be re-surfacing
Mendenhall & have a one way bike lane in the plans.
E. Bike valet parking at Sweet Pea Festival. Michael Babcock: Sweet Pea Board of
Directors.
Mike talked about the need for more bike racks for the festival’s 13,000 attendees. He
would like a proposal from BABAB with a plan or he will contact other groups. He had many
ideas for a BABAB bike valet at the Sweet Pea Festival August 2-4. We could have several
areas for bikes such as the grassy area near the bike path and the library and on
Cypress. BABAB could promote our organization & biking and raise money by charging
folks to valet their bike. Factors to consider: ending time, insurance & liability.
Board talked about inviting GVBC to next meeting & partnering up with them for volunteers
to organize/run valet. We talked about starting out with just having the bike valet on
Saturday and also that Sweet Pea should help to advertise with the festival information.
F. Driver's Ed program/ Bicycle Rules: update on Feb. 21st presentation and how to move
forward.
Nonnie, Jason & Rebecca presented to a driver’s ed. class of 80 students. The teacher
appreciated the input & they are invited back in April for the next class. Ideas for
improvements on the presentation were to refine delivery & power point, to follow more
closely the driver’s ed. manual, to have students speak one at a time for less chatter & to
pause on key video points. Overall, the committee felt that the presentation went
well. Nonnie & Rebecca will touch base with Petra about developing a program for college
students.
G. Follow up on BABAB booth at Kid’s corner in Bogert Farmers market reserved June 4th
and Sept. 10th. Moved until next meeting when Kirk is present.
H. Bike to Work Week Planning– May 13-17th, 2013 subcommittee update.

I.March 20 – Bozeman Community Transportation Safety Plan meeting City Commission 6-
9pm.
Folks should try to attend presentation. Great opportunity for input & info can be used to
ask for things such as lower city speed limits.
J. Managing BABAB’s gmail account.
Sam will look into options for receiving/answering public emails.
J. New Business: Discussed N. 19th pathway gap just south of Rawhide Ridge Court.
Yellowstone Bank & UPS own land where the gaps in the bike path exist. If the land is
developed further, they will be required to put in bike path. Project is not costly but
maintenance could be an issue. Rebecca emailed letter from Collin’s Coalition that
addressed lack of safety on the bike path and concerns for commuting on N. 19th. John V.
& Craig W. will discuss at their next meeting with the Montana Department of
Transportation.
K. Meeting adjourned.
