We reviewed the NACTO Street Design Guide for ideas and examples of what cities around the world have implemented and interim strategies. Money is in the streets budget to put in sharrows. Rebecca will draft a letter suggesting recommended beautification, sharrows, traffic calming methods and removing a parking space at intersections for curb bulb‐outs. E. Jen will bring bike maps & bike to work week posters to encourage student participation. Students mentioned the need for bike lanes on the Frontage Road between Belgrade and Bozeman . While this has been requested from many different people in previous years, local jurisdictions have not made this a priority. MT Rail link owns right of way along this corridor and have not been open to a bike path in the past. We could propose this again in the future.  Bike safety –Education at MSU: Petra: The MSU bicycle task force is currently working on developing an MSU bicycle and pedestrian master plan. This could later be used as a model for the city. Funding has not yet been secured. They are planning to submit an application to the League of American Bicyclists for a bike friendly University designation. MSU is planning ride to school week during the 3rd week in April. When preferred bike routes to MSU are established, a request can be made to the city to clear snow from the route and/or dust and debris. MSU will be offering coffee and treats for morning bike commuters. Bike fits from Endurance Physical Therapy can also be incorporated into the week. New dorm: covered bike parking, bike lockers involved in design. Would MSU consider donating money towards a city bike/pedestrian coordinator? A recommendation for bike/pedestrian coordinator where the city would match ½ of the salary is in the upcoming budget proposal. There might be other money available through other grants.
