Incident Narrative: Bozeman Firefighters responded to a reported fire at the above address. Upon
arrival, firefighters were directed to the garden section of the store. Once in
the store, we found that the fire had been extinguished by employees from the
auto shop, but the stucture was still charged with smoke. Positive pressure
ventilation was implemented, and the structure cleared from all hazardous
smoke. Interviews were then conducted with employees and customers. The
fire was detenn:ined to have started from a Coleman Fuel container being
accidentally placed upon a battery, hence an arcing that Illpidly released a
sufficient amount of DC energy to penetrate the fuel container causing fuel to
dispense from container onto contents of shopping cart and creating an
environment to support combustion. No injuries were reported, all units
available.
