Resolution 4641, Confirming Police Officers Commission Memorandum REPORT TO: Honorable Mayor and City Commission FROM: Steve Crawford, Chief of Police Chris Kukulski, City Manager SUBJECT: Resolution Number 4641, A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA, CONFIRMING THE APPOINTMENT OF POLICE OFFICERS IN ACCORDANCE WITH MONTANA CODE ANNOTATED 7-32-4108 AND 7-32-4113. MEETING DATE: September 21, 2015 AGENDA ITEM TYPE: Consent RECOMMENDATION: Approve Resolution Number 4641. BACKGROUND: Section 7-32-4108, Montana Code Annotated, provides that all appointments to the “police force” must be confirmed by the city council or commission. Section 7-32-4113, Montana Code Annotated, requires that in order to be submitted to the City Commission for confirmation, every applicant will have passed an examination and received a certificate from the police commission noting that the applicant has qualified for appointment. Additionally, the applicant must successfully complete a probationary period before being submitted to the City Commission for confirmation as a member of the “police force.” Officer MaryLee Mackenzie Schnittgen met the above-noted requirements and successfully completed her probationary period on September 2, 2015. As such, Resolution Number 4641 was written to confirm the appointment of this officer. UNRESOLVED ISSUES: None. ALTERNATIVES: As suggested by the City Commission. FISCAL EFFECTS: None.
