Message: An article in the paper recently, related the development community's suggestion to
reduce lot sizes to make housing more affordable. The development community always lobbies
to compromise planning guidelines. They will never willingly support affordable housing. Therefore, I think it would be better to address the demand side of the issue. Please watch this
PBS Newshour story about excess demand driving up the cost of homes in Florida. . If Bozeman
had an ordinance barring housing speculators and investors, I'm sure it would go a long way
toward increasing the supply of affordable housing. Bozeman could have the diversified housing
market it wants and needs, and we wouldn't have to battle the development community to get it. I hope you will give this some consideration. I think, long term, taking this path to affordable
housing will be much easier and more productive...
