MEETING DATE: September 14, 2015 AGENDA TYPE: Action RECOMMENDED MOTION: I move to appoint new applicants James Korth and Katie
Tennille to the Cemetery Advisory Board.
BACKGROUND: We currently have two vacancies on the Cemetery Board with both expiring on December 31, 2017. We have two new applicants.
According to Bozeman Municipal Code Section 2.05.660 – Composition.
There is created a cemetery board consisting of seven members to be appointed by the
City Commission for three year staggered terms. Should a vacancy occur on the board, the city commission shall appoint a new member to complete the term of appointment so vacated. A majority of the members shall be residents of the City, and whenever practicable one member
shall be a representative of an active recognized veteran’s group.
Section 2.05.670. – Organization. The cemetery board shall serve as an advisory board to both the city commission and city administration and, as such, shall be charged with making such investigation and
recommendations as requested or deemed necessary for the operation of the cemetery and as
required in this division.

Please explain your relevant qualifications, interests and experiences. *: I havedeveloped an interest in Sunset Hills Cemetery. This stems from my involvementwith several Veteran groups, to which I belong, and our desire to ultimately have aNational Veterans Cemetery in Gallatin County. The NVC is a long term goal, but Iwould like to be a part of the advisory board in the hopes of helping to communicateour interests both ways. I have worked in the area for over 30 years. Over 9 yearswere worked as the Bozeman area Disabled Veteran Outreach Program coordinatorfor the State of MT. I now work for Senator Steve Daines as the Veteran

Representative for Eastern MT through Butte. I belong to the MSU Veteran AdvisoryBoard, NWMT Veterans Alliance, American Legion Post 14, Vietnam Veterans ofAmerica chapter 788, Bozeman Elks, and have worked with GGHAC and theWarming Center committee for years.
