It should also allow the process to be accelerated as builders/developers will be able to provide the correct concepts the first time, will not have to rely on one planner to complete their project, and have fewer reviews. City planners will be able to go to one source, ensuring they are able to give a speedy and correct ruling on the vast majority of the issues in front of them. If they can complete each plan set using even 10% less time, they will then be able to work on the next project with an anticipated faster resolution to that document. It is our hope and belief that this will save all of us time and money, not to mention the improved job satisfaction for planners and the perception in the building community, that although our standards are rigorous, the city, and its staff do respect the nature of time and money is critical to successful projects. Thank you for considering this rewrite in these tedious financial times. It will be a legacy type project bringing together the rules and regulations from the past in a format that further enhances our city’s future.
